Can someone explain this to me, please?

This is has been bothering me for a long time. Standing in the checkout line at the grocery store, I am shocked that month after month magazines like First and Woman’s Day have two things on the cover:

1) An unreasonable (sometimes ridiculous) headline about weight loss

and

2) A big colorful picture of an unhealthy dessert

Does anyone else see the problem here?

Women who want to lose weight and are attracted by the promise of a quick fix, are drawn in and buy the magazine.

The colorful picture of cake or cupcakes is only a hint at all the unhealthy, fattening, and sugar-laden foods to be found inside.

This causes unhealthy food cravings, which in turn causes obesity, which causes women to seek out the “get thin quick” scenario.

Why can’t these magazines truly empower women? Instead they keep them on the merry go round of being overweight and looking for a quick fix, month after month, year after year.

Why?

Just to make money?

Deplorable.

Fortunately, in my cart were $6.50 in broccoli crowns, pears, salsa, and Boca Chicken (I'm a veg). I've been eating especially healthy latelty :)

Yes most of these magazines are an eye candy attracting women to purchase such magazines but serving no good in reality. Anyways, do drop by my blog coz it doesnt offer fattening recipes, but is loaded with lots of interesting things that you're surely gonna enjoy.

Some magazines put desserts on their cover, which leads to cravings, which makes women overweight. Other magazines put super-thin models on their cover, which leads to distorted body image, which makes women underweight. Magazines are obviously the root of all evil. How about a magazine cover with a size-12 model eating a broccoli pie? Problem solved.

Now that I think of it, how many size 12-ers are eating much broccoli?

but...Which one is worse?
